Originally from a small Appalachian town in Tennessee and the youngest of eight children, I explored photojournalism as a hobby. My childhood cultivated a deep passion for stories that center around family as I believe that the nuclear family, or lack thereof, is a reflection of society. I hope to create narratives that touch on the heart of community and show how we, as valuable moving parts of society, are more similar than different from each other.
I am a junior at Ohio University studying both photojournalism and English. Last fall I completed the Danish School of Media and Journalism International Photo II Program where I was challenged to think and photograph metaphorically to create deeper meaning in my work. This summer I will be the photo intern at the San Francisco Chronicle.
